My Role

I designed the UX and UI for MUOV’s Free Ride mode, building the core flow, modular metric system, and final interface in close collaboration with engineering.

Overview

MUOV is building a connected riding ecosystem and needed a clean, focused Free Ride mode for their first product release. I designed the UX and UI for this feature, creating a simple, data-driven interface that fits naturally into the existing ride experience and sets the foundation for future training features.

The Challenge

Free Ride had to deliver clear performance data without the visual environment used in other modes. The design needed to feel consistent with the existing ride UI, support different rider preferences, and work within tight startup timelines and engineering constraints. The challenge was creating a polished V1 that balanced clarity, customisation, and feasibility.

Process

The process was intentionally fast and lightweight. I mapped the core flow, iterated through wireframes, and refined the visual system to match MUOV’s brand. High-fidelity prototypes ensured smooth implementation and alignment with engineering throughout development.

Key Decisions

The Free Ride interface needed to feel like part of the same ecosystem, so I reused core patterns from the existing ride UI while simplifying the layout for static training. I prioritised essential metrics and introduced a modular tile system that lets riders choose what they want to see. Every decision was scoped to fit V1 constraints while leaving room for future expansion.

Initial Wireframes

Using our established design library, we transitioned smoothly to high-fidelity designs, ensuring the new feature aligned with the platform’s minimalistic and user-friendly approach.

Outcome

Free Ride shipped with MUOV’s V1 bicycle launch and became one of the first training modes used by early customers. The modular metric system and UI patterns introduced here now support other training features and form a key part of MUOV’s digital foundation.

Learnings

Understanding user interaction was crucial, especially with MUOV’s connected bike. We’re pleased with the ‘Free Ride’ feature and will continue to refine it based on user feedback.

Creating a Unique UX Framework

We designed Nutrion™ to serve both individuals and health professionals, creating a tailored experience that bridges personal tracking and professional insight. The app enables patients to monitor and seamlessly share their metrics, while a dedicated platform empowers health professionals to review.
