I was the lead designer for this project alongside two other designer who helped me bring the product to life.
Alivion is a startup who is focusing on making a wearable monitoring solutions relating to metabolism, in an effort to better understanding individuals nutritional needs by measuring biomarkers in their breath.
Alivion had a product in the market but it was mostly sold as an industrial product rather than a consumer product. They wanted to to create a new product called the Nutrion. Which needed an app which allowed users to run a metabolic test and track their metrics over time, add entries linked to any foods they may have eaten as all of these have an impact on reading and how to make improvements.

This product required work from both the Industrial design department as well as the UX. The industrial design team had already designed a mockup of the new shape for the device before we joined the project.
Using detailed user interviews and a deep dive into the existing product we decided to keep the design lean. Alongside engineering we decided to use SHADCN as it allowed for us to design in high-fidelity from the start as Alivion had a very tight budget. We identfied a few key flows which were key for the MVP. We also designed it in a way that allowed it to be scallable and allow for new features to be built out in the future builds.
It was important that we didn't overcomplicate what the app could do, we ensured that measuring was front and centre. While we have built the platform in such a way that we can scale and add additional feature in the future. For the initial launch, capturing your metabolic state, adding in data related to eating habits in the diary and allowing for the system to give recommendations was the highest priority.

The final product was a minimal interface that complimented the physical device. We created a design system which was easy to adapt for development. Through rapid prototyping and close collaboration, we helped Alivion create a cohesive, refined, and production-ready solution , delivering exceptional value for a fast-moving startup.
Having worked with many startups, especially when working at MOHARA. Alivion sets itself apart due to the maticulus level of detail and precision, coming from a Swiss startup. Creating a product which is trying to be at the forefront of metabolic testing requires high level of precision and technical alignment. While the team is brilliant it was important to get them to better understand who the users of their products are and designing for them in mind. Allowing us to bring a product into a highly competitive market.
We designed Nutrion to serve both individuals and health professionals, creating a tailored experience that bridges personal tracking and professional insight. The app enables patients to monitor and seamlessly share their metrics, while a dedicated platform empowers health professionals to review data holistically.
We guided the creation of Alivion’s brand identity - from defining its mood and values to building a cohesive visual language. In close collaboration with the team, we developed a consistent identity that enhances recognition and emotional connection across all touch points.
