Project Overview

Taos sought a website redesign to improve content customization and reduce excessive scrolling. The goal was to refresh the site’s appearance, making it sophisticated yet approachable.

Look and Feel

At the project’s outset, Taos provided extensive reference materials. After reviewing various websites, we refined the options, highlighting specific components and functionalities. This phase secured CEO approval, aligning the project with the goal of enhancing the brand and attracting a higher LSM audience.

Website Review

We began by thoroughly exploring Taos’s website to understand its information and user accessibility. We found significant duplicated content and extensive text, leading to “endless scrolling.” Our focus was on enabling effortless navigation to specific areas for users to locate information easily.

Original User Flows

While evaluating Taos's website, it was crucial to map the entire user flow. This process enabled us to delve into the information architecture, providing a deeper understanding of the structure of their website. These mapped user flows proved instrumental in promptly identifying solutions to key issues and formulating effective strategies to address them.

Updated Flows

We addressed the previous site’s issues by dividing it into two sections: summer and winter. This approach consolidated scattered information, reducing the number of pages and making content more accessible to users.

Wireframes

The initiation of wireframing commenced only after mapping out the user flows. Our website design approach involved minimizing components to maintain repeatability. This not only eased the engineering process but also prevented the client from being overwhelmed with an excessive array of section options when constructing pages in the future.

Hi-fidelity Designs

After wireframe approval, we moved to high-fidelity designs. Repeated components allowed for quick assembly of pages. Large segmented tiles acted as prominent calls-to-action, guiding users to specific sections easily. Below are some highlighted final pages.

Learnings

This project was remarkable, presenting various challenges. We balanced Taos’s aesthetic expectations with technical issues from the previous framework. Developing existing user flows was crucial for understanding the site’s functionality and constructing an efficient, cohesive website.
